The Service Section

The Service section is about getting involved in the Community by training for, and giving a service to others.

Examples of service programmes are:

Helping people in need
Fund Raising
Outdoor Leadership
Emergency Services
Mountain
Rescue
First Aid
Environmental projects
Safety Training
… and many others

The ATC itself is, of course, a Service to the community, cadets and adults may participate in this programme at any level.   A copy can be downloaded from the link. 

The process is as follows:

Initial Briefing – where the nature of the service and the opportunities for practical service will be discussed.
Training – this may be further briefing, or a course of instruction, which might lead to a qualification.
Practical Service – this must be related to the training, and offer a genuine opportunity for practical work.
Final review – between the participant and the person supervising the project, at which the Record Book will be signed.

The timescale, based on an average of 1 hour per week of involvement as follows:

Bronze – a minimum of 3 months, with the option of an additional three months.
Silver – a minimum of 6 months, with the option of an additional six months for direct entrants.
Gold – a minimum of 12 months, with the option of an additional six months for direct entrants
