SPALDING AIR CADETS FASTEST OUT
OF THE BLOCKS!

Air Cadets from 1406 (Spalding) Squadron have reigned victorious in this years Bedford and Cambridgeshire Wing Athletics competition, which took place at Bedford International Stadium.

On a cold and damp day the cadets arrived in high spirits and with hopes of lifting the overall trophy for the second time in the past three years. By the end of the competition the successful squadron had yet again done themselves proud after winning five of the eight trophies and shields available. Victories in the Youth Boys, Senior Girls, Overall Girls and Overall Boys disciplines meant that the overall trophy would again be heading back to Spalding. The Squadron also won gold in the Youth Boys & Senior Girls Relays, & silver in the Junior Boys & Senior Boys Relays.

Commanding Officer 1406 (Spalding) Squadron, Flt. Lt. Keith Bate said: "I am pleased with the effort the cadets have put in throughout the year which has culminated in a terrific haul of medals & trophies. These will be proudly displayed alongside the Squadron's other sporting achievements. I would like to personally thank the cadets & members of staff for this wonderful accomplishment."

The victory and impressive display by the squadron means that a number of its cadets will now go on to represent Beds and Cambs Wing at the Regional Athletics competition, which is to take place in Leicester .
