CASTLEFORD CADETS DINE WITH CHIEF OF STAFF

Cadets from 2388 (Castleford) Squadron recently held their annual dining-in-night at the Yorkshire Air Museum, with the new Air Cadets Chief of Staff Group Captain Malcolm Evans in attendance.

The evening included a military style formal meal, toasts and presentations for the cadets. Group captain Evans spent a great deal of time chatting with the cadets about his career in the air force as well as the exciting future of the Air Cadet Organisation.

Flight Lieutenant Jim Williamson the squadron's Commanding Officer said: "It was great to have Group Captain Evans and his wife present, particularly when he is so busy, having recently taken up his new post. All of the staff, cadets and guests had a fantastic time in the marvellous setting of the Elvington Suite at The Yorkshire Air Museum and we are very grateful to the staff there for making us feel so welcome. The night was topped off nicely with the attendance of the Chief Of Staff, it made the evening really special."

Whilst attending the annual dinner cadets received certificates in map reading, airmanship, navigation, engineering and first aid. The military style format gave them a chance to learn how formal dinners work, something that the cadets seemed to fully embrace.
