SAWSTON CADETS HELP AT LOCAL FUN RUN

Cadets from 2461 (Sawston) Squadron recently spent a morning helping at the 23 rd Annual Sawston Fun Run and Walk in aid of Local Charities.

The charities that benefited from this years fun run were the Cambridge Cancer Help Centre, Prostrate Cancer, Teenage Cancer Trust, 3 Sawston Youth Groups, MAGPAS, Riding for the disabled and Pippins Pre School. In total eight cadets from 2461 Squadron spent the morning helping the organisers of the fun run by putting out tables for the stall holders, erecting tents, car parking and manning a water station along the 4.8 mile route.

Three cadets from 2461 squadron also ran in the race. Starting the race in a group, they stayed together throughout the 4.8 mile course finishing in an impressive 230 th place out of over 1000 competitors in a time of 42 minutes. The runners were Flight Sergeant James Pugh, Cadets Alex Deeming, Brogan Mitchell-Casey. Corporal Ben Harradine was delighted with how the day had gone. He said: “It an event that the Squadron is only too happy to help out at as it is in aid of local charities.”

Warrant Officer Tim Barker Officer Commanding 2461 Squadron said: “We are only too happy to help out at local events. As in previous years the squadron has benefited from this worth while event”.
