BAG PACKING INITIATIVE PASSES £260K

Cadets across the country have been described as ‘fantastic’ after money collected through the bag packing initiative passed £260,000.

The nationwide fundraising drive has seen cadets help customers with bag packing duties at a number of different supermarkets. Launched in November last year by former Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Gordon Moulds and the late Television personality Jeremy Beadle, the efforts of everyone involved have not gone unnoticed.

Wing Commander Tim Marley from Headquarters Air Cadets said: “It really has been a superb achievement by everyone associated with the initiative. The supermarket chains have been very helpful allowing us to use their stores and the shoppers have been very generous. Being out and about has positively raised the Corps’ profile, which goes to show how highly the cadets are regarded within their local communities.”

Although the grand total is over £262,000, Wg Cdr Marley urged cadets to keep up their hard work. He said: “A tremendous amount of money has already been raised, but we know that the cadets and volunteers are still working hard to bring in more.”
All squadrons are still being urged to continue with their fantastic efforts and to try and send in their money to Headquarters Air Cadet’s as soon as they can.
