BEDS & CAMBS CADETS COME OUT IN FORCE FOR WING REVIEWThe Annual Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire Wing Field weekend and Review recently took place at RAF Wyton. A variety of coloured Squadron T shirts adorned the teams as they marched round the Station with Flags and Banners flying on the Saturday and Sunday afternoon. 29 teams in total vied for points in various exercises including, First Aid, Aircraft Recognition, the Media Communications Competitions, Aero-Modelling, Code breaking exercises, and Drill.
The trophy presentations were given out on the Sunday morning and later on in the field during the afternoon. The Sunday morning was more formal with over 450 Cadets plus Staff on Parade for the Wing Review taken by Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Ian Stewart. Following the Review and Awards ceremony a March pas wast led by the Band from 104 (City of Cambridge ) Squadron with the salute taken by Commandant Air Cadets. 104 (City of Cambridge) Sqn were adjudged to be the best all round Squadron in the Wing and collected the Walker Shield. The Squadron also won The Bower Shield for the best overall band in the Wing and the Davies Shield, for the best percussion presentation in the Wing. The Beds and Cambs Wing Chairman, Mr Dave Ellis was presented with the Davies Cup awarded to the Civilian member of Staff for his outstanding contribution as a Sqn and Wing Chairman during the year. He said: “it is a fantastic honour to receive the Davies Cup for my contribution this year. It has been a real team effort.” |
