MEDIA SKILLS HELP SPREAD THE WORD

A Media Skills Course hosted by 1263 (Rochdale) Squadron recently brought together cadets and adult volunteers from across North Region.

The 12 staff members and 11 cadets took part in media training, which included subjects such as preparing a press release, photography recruitment and crisis management. Upon completion of the course those involved became fully trained Media & Communications Officers and are now equipped with the skills to promote the Air Training Corps’ in their local area.

Running the course was North Region Media & Communications Officer, Squadron Leader Mike Wadsworth, who felt that the day had been a real success. He said: “Although it’s been a very full day the course was well received and should assist in increasing the profile of North Region nationally, but more importantly at a local level and assist squadrons to promote the opportunities and activities available.”

Taking part in new and exciting activities is something that the Air Cadet Organization looks to promote, but Sqn Leader Wadsworth believes that everyone should be spreading the word. He said: “Our cadets do extraordinary things every week and we need to tell the world about it. Hopefully, with the right guidance, these staff and cadets will now be able to promote the Air Cadets where it matters most; in their local communities, and spread the word about what a fantastic organization we are part of.”
