CASTLEFORD AIR CADETS GET A TOUCH OF FROSTFour Castleford Air Cadets had a flying start to the Easter Holidays when they were invited to the opening of a new exhibition at The Yorkshire Air Museum. Dropping in to cut the official ribbon was Sir David Jason star of hit TV programme’s A Touch of Frost and Only Fools and Horses. After touring the new “Against the Odds” exhibition Sir David cut the media ribbon, declaring the exhibition open, whilst cadets formed another guard of honour in full glare of the watching media.Opening the displays Sir David said: “I feel very close to the RAF being a pilot myself. These crews didn’t give their lives, their lives were taken from them and when you consider 55,000 never came back in order to defend democracy, we must never forget what they gave.” The “Against the Odds” exhibition tells the story of Bomber Command during World War Two and charts the history and the sacrifices made by those involved. After staying and chatting to visitors and the press, Sir David flew himself back to Leeds to resume filming the new series of “A Touch of Frost”. |
