WEATHER HOLDS OUT FOR CADETS AND VULCAN TO PERFORM AT WADDINGTON

Continuing on from previous years, cadets and staff from Trent Wing recently assisted at Waddington International Air Show, manning the Air Cadet Recruitment stand and carrying out physical tasks such as litter picking.

Nearly 450 Cadets and Staff from Trent Wing attended this year’s show, a significant increase on last year’s numbers. This year’s event included an additional task for the cadets in attendance, as they were also selling the show’s official programmes.

The Air Cadet Recruitment stand contained a computerised Typhoon simulator, instead of the usual Link Training Aircraft version. Cadets were given plenty of time off to enjoy the show, and although a little wet from occasional downpours, managed to enjoy themselves.

During the weekend BBC Radio Lincolnshire interviewed two lucky cadets, who were also interview by East Coast Television. Trent Wing Media and Communication’s Officer, Flight Lieutenant Linda Donaldson felt that the show was a big improvement on that of the previous year. She said: “All of the cadets in attendance proved to be very hardworking and completed each task that they were given. The weather was not ideal, but it was much better than last year. It was good to see the clouds disperse just in time for the Vulcan to complete a memorable fly-past.”
